    My example.
The tuner does not move up and down the scale when you rotate the tuning knob.
Cassette deck doesn't work but it does cycle through the buttons on its own. When you power it on. I don't understand that.

This is 27 and 1/2 in wide.
    17253874268808321203078538170451.jpg
And I don't know why the this is upside down.

    The back or rear
    The rear label

    This takes 10 D batteries
    17253879470476530372191193009083.jpg
Battery compartment is clean except for the crumbled foam.
I want to see if I can reconnect the tuner to the tuner string or however that works and I want to make the cassette deck work and of course clean the controls and try to understand how it works. At least make the cassette play cassette. Thanks for viewing

Opened it up. All the screws are the same length and then the antenna wires go here
    17253895102516115586877002612418.jpg
And the dc battery compartment power plugs in over here

Inside the back cover, there's nothing you see

    Inside this is it's massive

I think I took two pictures

Yep, I took two pictures. Oh well. Next thing is to figure out is how to get the rest of this out. I think it's on a chassis but I'm not sure but it's going to be really fun because it's very heavy
Edit the RCA input end needs to be all unplugged along with the microphone from the front to get the chassis out and it evidently will all come out without any additional unscrewing of any screws. I just had to release the front door and take all the knobs off the front including the tuning knob. But here's a picture of all that I have to unclip is about five plugs to undo, so here's a picture so I know where they all go
    17253905057447212751200371271661.jpg
Unplug two of the big plugs from the main board and then three plugs from the circuit board on the end of the radio. Okay

Hopefully I can remember the pictures I just lost but here's a picture of with the speakers removed and the guts
    17253912867002790034282719669058.jpg
I only lost the pictures I just took of removing the speakers but no issues. It's pretty simple to get to this point.

Okay got the tape deck out and apart it takes a flat belt and a square belt and that's it. So let's measure the flat belt
    17253984045144866412951455451878.jpg
The old flat belt measures 115 mm and it's about 3 mm wide and the square belt. I don't know what size it is but here's an overall picture
    17253984903886390430213990191968.jpg
Now I'm going to go through my bag of belts and find me a square belt and also a flat belt
    17253985754035175617293242314605.jpg
Nice to have a huge assortment of belts
80 mm square belt for the secondary belt. Now it has new belts installed and here's a picture
    1725400403567141987449796563302.jpg
In case you're wondering about the Moto bat box that's holding up the whole thing to keep it from falling over while I work on it.

    7 September 2024 edit,
Edit the belt routing for the secondary belt is incorrect or wrong as it's supposed to have the secondary belt not go around but be next to the other belt as it goes around the idler tire as I'll try to illustrate as I'm inside this JR 7-Eleven and the belt routing is different without taking it apart I'll try to show how it's supposed to be with a picture
    17257285326294778441308591091817.jpg
With my pic I'm holding down the belt as it's supposed to travel on this side of the wheel only and only on the other side Ride against it. Put it another way. It's not supposed to go around all the wheels it's supposed as I thought in my above picture In this 911 thread which is incorrect. Both sides of the belt is supposed to travel on one side and under illustrating here with this picture. Trust we understand this.

Well I cleaned the controls. Got the radio to work. The cassette Deck did work initially when I first had the belts in it but there's too many solenoids that aren't in sync and I don't know what the proper way that it all should be and now it doesn't work. It just clicks.

The reason why the tuner won't tune is that the shaft is binding

    17255695008647208359485777965316.jpg

And this has a weighted tuner and the only way that I can rotated it by rotating the weight

    17255695559445453420055722946672.jpg

The knurled part of the shaft goes back and forth and therefore does not allow the knob which it sits on to rotate the shaft to change the channel on the tuner. So that's just wore out

    17255696331518726569070366505476.jpg

If you know it's in a previous picture it was further out and I just now pushed it back and took this picture.

This is a diatone jr911 and I also have a JR 711 which I got which I didn't realize didn't have a handle until like after I got it and it has similar issues to this one and I don't think I can repair it. So I'm going to go through it as best I can and then sell it for peanuts. Least I would have known its issues.

Few minutes ago I made a video about both of these and I'll upload that later.

Hard to explain but I used a pair of pliers and a hammer to slide the knurled part on the tuning shaft forward so that it will not rotate by itself but actually rotate the shaft. And then I found a 1.5 mm Allen wrench and are able to tighten the shaft on the shaft. I don't know why it has two part shaft but it does. Just thought I'd show you a little picture of that and my happy little tool that I was able to do this with.

    1725572018377896750799964971830.jpg

I really bought these for working on the Honda 2021 ct125a motorcycle but this fits on here for tightening the set screw that you may be able to see on the shaft there. So hopefully when I put it all back together I can push on the plastic knob onto the knurl and it won't push back into the radio and I'll be able to tune the radio which is the whole goal. Which I wasn't able to do in my 4-week-old video that I shot 4 weeks ago.

Putting the back cover on. I just thought I'd show you one last glance of just how complicated this thing is on the inside

    17256405564323460337522138454415.jpg

The center of this is all for the cassette deck. I believe it's just way too much complication for the deck. I'm done with it. Goodbye.
