9th September 2024 let's begin with the national RX 5025 with TPS to repair. Just just to be clear, I do have three of these As the one I'm beginning with has an excellent sounding radio and one of these other ones has an issue with the radio. I may be cannibalizing the dial pointer from one to this one. Just saying that ahead of time. In this end you have the upper microphone input for the mixing mic or karaoke. Then you have your line in and out and you have your external speaker jacks and your oscillator switch for recording off of am, lastly, you have your headphone jack which is full size 6 point. I can't remember or quarter inch Jack full size for headphones and then beneath that you have your 100 volt input but I input 125 no issues. There is no DC input. Jack. Okay I had this to get this off the shelf to remember Yeah it's tone balance volume and then mixing volume and then your selector switch for line in radio and tape and then your normal or Chrome tape position and then your fm stereo FM mono and then am twitch for the radio now. The above picture is of my Panasonic which is missing the karaoke knob not mean to confuse anybody.
The most important part to know is simply how to remove the cassette deck door. You start by opening it and then grabbing the sides and you carefully pull it out at an angle upwards. Let me see if I can illustrate with a picture Here I have one side off. I gently pulling up And then I gently pulled up on the other side and wiggled it out and here it is With this model, all you have to do to remove the cassette deck door is simply. Like I said, open the door and then gently pull up at an angle like it's open already and just gently pull out at an angle just the way it's sitting. Almost you might want to push the door in just a fraction and then pull up and you can wiggle it out after you get both sides unsnapped from the hinge or pole. It rotates on when it opens and closes. Of course after you have it out and you've done all your servicing to the deck. All you have to do is put both sides of the plastic hinge parts back into the front of the cassette deck area on either side and just gently at an angle. Pushing in just a fraction and push on the top edge of the door so you can get those plastic clip like arms to grab around the hinge pole and you're done. This is the hardest part and a lot of people break these things off. Once you do, you're your Sol you know. Hopefully with my little tutorial here you can understand. And of course now the rest of it's easy. Just belts and cleaning switches and that's it. And of course with this model I have to find another dial pointer probably out of one of the other two models that I have.
Okay after you take all the screws out the front opens like this? So you have one grounding wire on the right hand side for the speaker and then you have a plug where the speakers on the left attached to the circuit boards which is a pale gray color There was a grounding wire going to each speaker Pretty simple and very dusty inside and I haven't quite figured out yet. Why the tuning string won't move the pointer across but the pointer is not in here. It's gone Edit yes, the pointer is simply not in here and the motor is good. Even though you can't hear it just needs a belt. It's very dirty and Dusty. I have to take the thing outside and brush it out. Not doing it inside here Four screws across the bottom. Hold the tape deck in as two of the chassis screws. Hold the top end in of the tape deck
Okay I took out the four screws across the bottom and I flipped it over and the belt is loose and then the pinch roller fell off. That didn't make any sense. So it's sitting on top of the flywheel belt cover. I put it there if it doesn't go there but I put it there Just untwed those two screws and get that Gray wire out of the way and change the belt. It only takes one belt and then a belt for the counter
Well I got most of it repaired new belts installed and we're just looking for a way to make a tuning indicator. Meanwhile I'm just getting the dust bunnies out of the speakers before I try to make a tuning indicator out of a twisty tie LOL 11th September 2024
