I'm in the process of resurrecting a late model WM-D6C. I understand that the really proper way to power these in this day and age is with Eneloops batteries. Just as in my computer trackpad... Less chance for over-voltage problems and so on.

So, I'd like to purchase a new battery case or two to go this route.

Looking on the web, I've found several ranging in price from maybe $25 to $150. I presume the latter are new old stock Sony parts. Maybe. The less expensive ones might be 3D printed versions. Maybe.

Anyway, I'm sure experts here have some recommendations of what products might be good and what ones to avoid. Suggestions?

    Thanks!

Oh! I'd probably charge these batteries externally rather than using any internal D6C circuitry. Unless you all have other recommendations.

Hey BKDad I use Eneloop pro in all my units and I charge them externally with a Powerex MH-C9000, it does both AA's and AAA's.

Why do you want to get a new battery holder, have you lost or damaged the one that came with the unit?

I want a spare. Or, maybe, two.

Mostly to make battery pack changes easier in "the field" and because you never know when parts like this become unobtainium.

I would save your money, it takes seconds to changed batteries.

    Gotcha.

That doesn't get around the "Oops I broke/lost mine! New ones are how many hundred dollars??!!" problem though.

Worry about the Oops moment when you get there, battery holders are easy to find. A head, motor or IC are far more difficult to find and to be honest and are more likely to break before you lose a battery holder.

Just so you know, the d6 fits into the d6c battery compartment and vice versa, so maybe you can save a few bucks by getting a d6 battery holder. If you really have to have a spare course I have two of each here as you can see. 17298757016927714030677436918738.jpg
Yes, two d6 with a box and one d6c with a box and then a d6c in a plastic bag

Isn’t the tray, or one very similar used too in other Sony units without the sliding cover? I recall a the https://walkman.land/sony/wa-5000 and a DAT unit?
