My Flywheel gear has decomposed and I'm struggling to find a source for a replacement.

I either need a source for a used but good flywheel or an alternative gear that can be fitted to the existing flywheel.

    Any help very much appreciated.

Walkman.land call it the Walkman WM-2. But it has Walkman WMII printed on the front of it.

It seems the part is very much not available unless you can find used or enterprising parties printing their own. I've been unable to source used, really need to get my hands on a couple of junk units for spares but they go for silly money where I live. So I went down the printed route. Under £10 so we will see what the quality is like.

I've been using this place for about over 3 years now since I discovered it that I can get items for very little versus eBay. However, the shipping cost from over there to me in USA is the deciding point as to whether it's a better bargain to get it from over there versus eBay. Generally getting something from over there and not fretting over the shipping charge. I've gotten pretty good deals. Only thing to be concerned about from getting things from over there is that they seem to be more corroded. Jon from any place else in general. So just look at the pictures and make your own determination.

I had to sign out. I started randomly bidding on every junk WM2.

Some looked horrendous condition, just made me want them more.

Well the capstan gear has arrived at the Buyee.jp warehouse, they estimate 3x the original price for shipping. So now I've got to buy some more stuff as I doubt that shipping will increase much.

Yeah reached out to me on a FB group. So I've ordered one of them. Should arrive faster than the Buyee.jp one and it's a lot cheaper. Hopefully the quality is good. I liked the look of his Sony stickers too so I'll be buying a set after this part arrives if the quality is as good as expected.

So it turned out my capstan on my original unit was perhaps slightly bent at the flywheel end. So the FB replacement part worked but there was horrendous wow/flutter. So I ordered the buyee.jp one. Its been sitting counting down the days to disposal as shipping was insane. I thought, incorrectly, if I ordered a few more items I could consolidate and combine the packaging cost and then the shipping wouldn't feel so bad. And that seemed the case, got shipping to UK down to £40 or so it seemed, but then buyee.jp add the domestic shipping fee on what appears to be a second time.

Seems like a colossal scam. ‍♂️ So all shipping has cost more than double the items costs. Plan was always to sell on a large bulk of what I'd purchased to offset those costs and hopefully break even. Now its more an exercise of probably forced to fix all so I can perhaps get close to breaking even. Some were really only fit for parts too.

I don't know how much your item costs, but he always pays the shipping from the seller to the warehouse and then you pay for the shipping from the warehouse to you and then you pay a handling fee for buying it and then for them to handle it and ship it to you or something like that. I think it's 500 yen total and you pay both shipping fees as I previously mentioned and then you get the item and you have multiple ways of paying for shipping when you get to that screen. I've had no issues buying from them. And yes the shipping is a bit high but I am getting airmail shipping so I realize that. But I'm okay with that because only one time. I ever do seamail shipping via eBay and said never again because it took like nearly 3 months to get the darn thing. So I said never again I'll pay the air mail and be done with it.

Well my "little" parcel arrived and I almost threw the capstan out because it was packaged so tightly in amongst all the other packaging.

39 items shipped to me. I guess that's why internal shipping was so high. Although a dozen items were from 1 seller, got must have sent every item individually not together.

Pleased with my haul. Total of 35 Panasonic RQ S and SX models. Quite a few doublers. My aim is to keep the absolute best for me, the absolute best for doublers will be renovated and sold first to recoup some of the outlay.

The worst ones are for parts if I need them and then spares/repairs online if I don't need them.

Oh and I got a couple of late slim Sony's and a Kenwood.

Capstan is now fitted, thanks @Cassette2go it was a great recommendation. Now its playing smoothly with no wobble. All thats left now is to fix a hum at low volume. I'm guessing its a capacitor on its way out. Has anyone got a list of capacitors and values the WM2 uses. At a quick glance it seems like there are 5 black capacitors from what I can tell. Not checked values yet, thought I'd check online first.
