that is pretty cool, thanks for posting it. it seems I remember the portable record player part, but I do not remember it being a tape deck also. of course it could’ve been on here that I saw someone post it and that’s why it looks familiar to me. I’m thinking he’s going to have that a long time wanting $1000 for it, but you never know someone might just have to have it.
I think Hitachi was kind of late to the stereo game, I don't know the exact model, maybe Reli will chime in. I still think the UHER 124 from 1972 beat the Walkman by years....
RockStock is having a cyber Monday Sale, enter "rockcyber" for 35% off. I bought one early this year, they are very nice, some have grommets for easy hanging. https://www.ebay.com/str/illinoisthrift?_trksid=p4429486.m3561.l161211
Wihi is having a small sale today, these little driver sets are great for electronics but they are not JIS! $34.98 today. https://www.wihatools.com/products/61-piece-terminatorblue-gobox-bit-set
Search for TV Radio Cassette and you get all sorts of interesting things https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/305851199913 Unlike most, this one looks as if it prioritises sound quality over picture size. Probably not the nest set to watch Top Gun on
I can confirm this is a great sounding unit. Replacing the belts is a pain. You have to disassemble the whole box to do so. But its worth because it sounds so nice
I've actually got an MT-4200 sitting next to me, these are about double-depth a normal box and really cool looking.
Promotional Sony Radio, at least that's what the ad says, more like a knock-off https://www.ebay.com/itm/296753629991?
I wonder if the seller knows it's a knock-off? It is neat with the early Sony Design and how recognizable that is.
I'm still keeping an eye on Wiha, I've got a set of these and use them all them time for any electronic item, especially to get batteries out. Keep an eye on the "Stocking Stuffer" Stuff, it looks like it changes a bit. The 85th Anniversary Screwdriver Set might also be a nice pick up. https://www.wihatools.com/products/precision-slotted-phillips-screwdrivers-7-piece-set
Another very odd double use item from the past, the TDK Shaving Kit https://www.ebay.com/itm/146181454509
Even as kids, these were too much plastic fantastic, while I don't remember this one, most of it's catalog mates were found with adult women, they loved the small footprint and kind of computer feel to the controls. The Mitsubishi Z-40 with a really cool door that hides the vertical turntable. https://www.ebay.com/itm/335720523829?
In 1985, like many stereos, that would have looked like a product from the future. Technically it looks to be more advanced than the Sharp VZ3XXX models which, judging from the number which keep appearing on ebay.co.uk were very popular here. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/146268067745 Googling shows a couple of threads elsewhere showing the entire Mitsubishi Z range https://www.reddit.com/r/vintageaud...terplay_lineup_x7_x10_x12_z40_more/?rdt=47723
