    Got new tapes
    0824.jpg
    Increase in Kittens
    CDing1 - U -Series is now complete
Very glad about the two Oldies ( Krom from 72, Maverick - here again in paper box - from 73 )
This CD Power Cassette has a little bit other design than the 90-minutes-tape. It`s assembled in Thailand.
And i like the blistered tobacco merchandise tapes - had this only without the blister.
590 Cassettes in Collection - 8 new will come next.
    Have a good weekend

After a longer time, i can post someting new - it`s harder from post to post getting new tapes, the to-do-list is smaller and smaller, but the tapes rarer and rarer.
    Let`s start
    20241126_165455.jpg 20241127_030608.jpg 20241127_031014.jpg
    20241220_171958.jpg 20241220_172106.jpg 20241220_172239.jpg 20241220_172353.jpg
    20241220_172407.jpg 20241220_172502.jpg Basara Box (1).jpg
You can see, i began to collect also special cassettes, like the Horizon and the Nobody - these are TDK Learning and Music Editions. A curious thing is the 10-Pack for Karaoke - i don`t know, what tapes are in it - may be CDing Type.
The Basara i still had, but not in Paper Box, and the SA 42 completed the list of special playing time - it`s the last, i needed.
The D-C -tapes are different - some with star, some without - the star in the declaration means, it´s the first edition of the tape type, from 1972-74, in 1975 then the star changed to a point, you can also see this on SD and AD and ED - Type.
Now collection includes 607 items, and i not added some funny stuff, like a Corgi Bus with TDK logo, a red metal Cassette Box, Rommee Playing Cards in TDK Cassette Format and Blistered Labels and Inlay Cards.
So it`s going on, there are about 50, i`m still looking for ( unfortunally i passed Time Editor, but price was very, VERY high ).
I wish you all a Cosy X-Mas, and peaceful sliding into New Year - that are strange times, aren`t they !

The life cycle of collecting is so fascinating, 25 years ago there were NOS tapes everywhere and boxes of "FREE" used tapes at every garage sale. The other thing I like is the graphic design, I've heard that 50's logos are coming back bigly, Jaguar is getting pummeled for changing theirs. I feel like modern CEO's want to leave a mark and changing the iconic logo is the easiest way, right before they get kicked out usually.

2 Mr.X @ "The other thing I like is the graphic design" - yes , some of the TDK Tapes are really Art - for example the "CUE" - series, and i really like the Design of the CDing with different grafic patterns for different playtimes. And the Logo is a longtime player, despite of some people don`t discover the gemstone in it... I will post a picture of a selection with every playtime, TDK has published, so you can get a little overview of the different designs.
    Still have a peaceful X-Mas.

I guess we are all fans of TDK cassettes right from the beginning in the 1960's. I recently acquired this gold cassette in a plush blue velvet display box ex Japan but I have only sketchy information on when and to what purpose TDK produced these cassettes. Clearly they represent some form of corporate presentation. I believe they are dated to 1979. I'm sure Hugo and @soluna you have this also and hopefully you know more about their origin. @Silverera - The Golden Cassette was produced in 1973, normally sealed in a typical cassette cover. It was produced for an advertisement campaign 1973 in the blue box, printed with a personal inscription ( yours : " Swing Jazz" - there are others like " With Love" or the name of the owner .
If you participated in the campaign and purchased a certain number of TDK cassettes, you would receive a golden one.
And i think it was also given to TDK Employees as a appriciation with the name printed.
I only have the one sealed - i never found a clear one, without personal printings.
By the way - it`s real-gold-plated plastic, but some people try to sell them as they would made of massive gold... like here : https://www.ebay.com/itm/126020891718 :loldiag:

Thanks for the background information. Just interesting why a number of the blue boxed ones have been listed for sale at the moment. Still I'm pleased to have it alongside other gems from TDK including a shrink wrapped MA-R-C90, early MA-XG90 and -D180 and a type II 150 in blue wrapper which command crazy prices nowadays.
    Cheers

I saw that one from the seller in Thailand. It's a ridiculous price but it has 559 people "watching" it. One of those will no doubt negotiate a price on it. I'm sure it will be a lot more than mine

So basically, we are looking at a plastic cassette, with gold spray paint? To each his / her own.

You can get one from Reno Donald in Estland, this price is high, but still related to other rare cassettes in these very good conditions :

You must know, the seal from this times is very brittle, nobody knows, if it will survive the shipment...
Mine has a broken seal, came from Japan Buyee - that`s the risk.
@Silverera - what cassette you mean with type II 150 blue wrapper ? There are some CDings, i know, but not so expensive.

Yes It is one of those CDing2 cassettes. No it wasn't overly expensive as you'd expect for a type II but I have not seen any others for sale in years. You have to look hard to see the TDK imprint on the packaging.

@TooCooL4 - i don`t know, how they bring on the gold plate, but spraying would be the most effective way.
@Silverera from what series is your CDing II ? `98, `99 and 2002 the 150-minutes-tapes had blue wrappers.

I'll look through some of the trade magazines, there might be info. Unfortunately a lot of the really good stuff got taken down, no idea why.
