    I have now reposted this thread from the new members one
    Well I managed to find some belts on Ebay( i sent them off and he matched them up for me) All fitted and working so i thought!, I put it back together and the tape just "spools" as in it plays and jams up and unspools the cassette even though all the motors/gears are working, i took it all apa P1430352.JPG P1430354.JPG P1430355.JPG rt and it doesnt always do it, I notice there is a "Jockey wheel/gear that sometimes touches a off set lever that when it does the tape plays up, What is happening please also in 3rd pic the is a lever that when i put the tape mechanism back it moves, is this anything to do with it, Sorry about my poor descriptions

    You mean takeup reel does not rotate or doesn't have enough torque to spool the tape ?

    It tries to rotate but as you say might not have enough torque

    If that's the case I would check 2 things:
    - that the actual takeup reel is free to rotate, in the sense there's nothing adding extra resistnace.
    - that the clutch is actually providing enough torque to begin with;
    - any idler tire that may exist between the clutch and the actual takeup reel;

    Given I can't see most of the mechanism can't tell more.

    Clutch is the part with the blue rubber band on it. That seems to drive the takeup reel through an idler (marked green), but there's not enough light to see clearly.
    First of all that clutch needs to be connected to the main flywheel with a belt, which I don't see there or it's not properly installed.

    Apart from this you really need to clean everything better, since there's a lot of leftover belt residue on the flywheel and probably somewhere else.
