I have two walkmans for sale. I believe I bought them off someone here, or at least this is the site I learned about them and I bought them off ebay. They've been sat in a box for quite some years and I haven't tested them, but they were both bought working. I'm going to list them on ebay, but I thought i'd put them on here first to see if anyone was interested in making an offer etc. I don't really know how much they're worth as the ebay prices are all over the place
Think the best course of action is to either put the ebay link here once you list them or say what your price expectations are (you probably have some figures in mind). Also more pictures from all angles, inside the cassette compartment (head, pinch roller), battery compartment will be useful. This "not tested" thing can be misleading, it's best to test and share the actual condition of the units as of 2025. There are some things to be checked: WM-10 II can have cracked reel gears (a close-up pic with open door is ideal to see this) and TPS-L2 can have a cracked clutch gear. Ebay listing prices are not as relevant as many think, you have to look at completed sales and condition/accesories. I can list a TPS-L2 at 10.000$ or 100$, that doesn't make any of these 2 the market price. You have to test the market: start with a high price and go down if it doesn't sell. Going down is easier (for the potential buyer) than going up in price.
@Valentin so i tested both of these this morning. the WM-10 Mark II works perfectly. I remember buying this and using it instead of an ipod at university haha. i'm amazed about the engineering quality. so the only thing i'm unclear is that the rewind doesn't rewind at a steady pace, it varies just a little bit, but you can hear that. but when playing it forwards it works fine and i don't notice any change in the pitch of the audio. i'm still amazed by this design and how small it is compared to a cassette. the TPS-L2 however doesn't fully work. The battery light comes on, and I can hear the sound of the motor whirring inside when i press rewind/forward/play etc, but the cassette won't play. I saw your incredible post on restoring one of these, but I feel this might be beyond my skills. Also two of the little screws are missing on the narrow back that holds a plastic panel in place. looking at the third screw, it seems like a very simple mini screw, so i believe i can order a replacement or leave it like that for someone else to restore. I've listed both on ebay now, the links are below. I took more photos of the WM-10 Mark II and uploaded them, including a video of the wm playing. I haven't for the TPS-L2, but i can if you're interested. someone has already offered 90% of asking on the TPS-L2, but i'm just waiting for them to confirm that it was listed as not tested, and if they still want to proceed.
