Hello everyone, JohnyMaysohn here. Been collecting a few WMs and Grundigs ever since I got back to listening to these little gems. Got back to tapes due to the genre of music I have been recently listening to (Vaporwave, Barber Beats, that kind of niche). Besides tapes, I have also been listening to various LPs ranging from Bowie to UK Electronica (FSOL, Orbital, Leftfield). Looking forward to make acquaintance with other fans of this music medium, especially when it comes to expertise, as I am also fond of trying to fix a bunch of Walkmans myself. Some cherished WMs that I own and use every now and then are the DD10, WM-EQ5 (snagged one via Japanese auctioning pages), a WM-D6C (soon getting a second one, too), a WM-35 (which along with the F35 I think is still one of the most beautiful Walkman ever conceived), and a BeatBoy 100 (which has a speed issue as of now). Here a picture of the iconic 35 duo playing some jams.
Welcome. Do you know that a lot of Philips boomboxes were made in Austria I bought this one new in 1989. Click on the photo and zoom in on the tag.
I was not aware of that but that is quite amazing. Wish more Philips devices were roaming on the internet. Latest find I purchased was a Skymaster 2 in red but that one might also be a tough nut to fix as the Play button refuses to stay locked whenever it's pressed. Walkmen aside, it might also explain why I love AKGs so much, even the small earphones
Gotta love that thick accent! It's not the worst Austrian accent and has some similar notation to that of Bavarian but yeah, it can sometimes be difficult to understand properly. Fun Fact: Dutch are more likely to understand German compared to German trying to understand Dutch. Had some nice first-hand experience of that during my visit in Amsterdam this year!
