Hello everyone, I managed to find a Sony WM-F80 while cleaning out my parents attic awhile back and have been working on getting it to run since. As usual, the belts were stretched out, the battery compartment had minor corrosion, and the audio jack needed some adjustment. The radio on the device works flawlessly (not very surprising) but the cassette mechanism has a slight problem to say the least. Upon pressing play, the mechanism will play the tape for a few seconds before auto-reverse kicks in, plays the other side, and does the same thing. This endless loop of switching sides continues indefinitely. I have heard that the mechanism may be detecting resistance (indicating it has reached the end of the tape) and engaging auto-reverse where it then detects the same thing. I've tried eliminating the resistance by lubricating most of the moving parts but this doesn't seem to have done anything. I notice it might be possible to remove auto-reverse from the device altogether in order to get it running normally. This would be done by removing some parts but I would prefer to keep the feature intact. Any suggestions/ideas? Thanks UPDATE: By eliminating even more friction, I have managed to get the device functioning normally without a tape inserted. The device reverts to flipping the tape whenever a cassette is inserted. Also, FF and Rewind seems to have stopped functioning altogether (not a huge concern considering I rarely use them). I have deduced that the problem is purely mechanical but I am still unsure as how to begin tackling this issue. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Szia! Ugyanez a problémám van a tegnap vásárolt WM-F80-asommal.. Látom, elég régi téma, de végre rájöttél, mi okozza az állandó váltást/leállást? Nagyon szépen köszönöm.
