Looks good, but needs a tuner. Also not sure I believe the output claims.

Looks good, I hope it's reasonably priced (knowing WAR it might be a bit on the expensive side) and the user replaceable lithium ion battery is amazing. Plus the type 2 selector.

Power amps can be 32W RMS given they're class D, but there's also the question if the power supply can provide enough current for a 32W output.
Then there's the question is if the speakers can handle that kind of power without distorsion. Likely no.
Even more concerning though is the only 2 x 2mW output power on the headphones output. That's really low, even late slim walkmans usually have 2 x 5mW.

Good part is they included a nomal/metal EQ, that's a big plus. Hope to see this on more new cassette machines.
Fact battery is user replaceable is also a big plus.

It would be better if they showed the real thing along with the fancy renderings especially the inside mech etc. , not really interested yet without a price tag and some trustworthy reviews.
Blame it to my artistic insensitivity but that is what we should expect to happen from the cassette tape drive mechanism ? :hmmm

The We Are Rewind GB-001 is available directly from We Are Rewind, priced at £379 / €449 MSRP.
The GB-001 system delivers 104W RMS total power with its Class D amplified woofers and tweeter, allowing you to blast cassette tapes, Bluetooth devices, and there’s an Aux input to bridge the technology gap between other old and new audio devices. What’s more, there is even a 1m Vrms input for a microphone and a headphones output.

That pricing is wild, aren't there tanaclone desktop decks that cost less than that? surely the battery isn't worth that much.

Also, it doesn't even have radio, you'd expect the damn thing to make you coffee at that price point.

If that's 104 watts RMS, it probably has some decent amps, I think it says there's two of them, bi-amped just like the old Panasonics. It's hard to tell from the images, the battery pack looks woefully small. My ION Jobrocker has a motorcycle size battery and it's very heavy.

I don’t like the design at all. Generic and faceless.
I wouldn’t buy it on looks alone.

It reminds me slightly of a Hitachi TRK-8080...

I get kind of a Nak or B&O feel from it, it wouldn't surprise me to see it show up in ads with similar looking vintage equipment.

Yeah, maybe like the Beosystem 10, which (as the owner of two) I'm pretty sure has Philips components inside :)

I swear I’m not trying to be pretentious but the design bugs me. The aim was good design—restrained, purposeful, quietly confident. The kind of subtlety that speaks with intention. But that’s not what’s happening here. Instead of refined minimalism, it’s faceless. The lines don’t speak with intention—they say nothing at all. It’s underwhelming.
If you’re going after Dieter Rams, you better have an arsenal at hand.
I will say that bright yellow record button is genius. It’s a zoot suit detail in an otherwise flavorless execution.

Nice to see the effort of a new 2025 boombox. One has to give some respect and understanding for the tremendous gamble and effort of even trying to bring this thing to market.

"This boombox features a top of the line cassette mechanism..." :scratch2: uh huh :scratch2 isn't there just that one mostly-plastic cassette mechanism in production in the world today that is used in everything?

$513 US dollars it converts to... sounds about right and on the low side really. (Can you imagine what it would cost to remake some of those somewhat basic simple (not the big fancy ones) old boomboxes today? Thousands.)

EDIT: Yeah it looks bland but I kinda like it.

It will be fun to watch some of those youtube reviewer guys take a look at this one.

I agree. I’m glad for the effort but most end up being a big disappoint.
It’s obvious they tried to give it the Dieter Rams treatment. It comes off as ham-fisted.
As for the cassette, I read that on their “Walkman”, they took the cheap knock-off mechanism and tried to beef it up with a better flywheel and cassette playback head. I give them credit for that. I actually hope they sell well. I am glad when I see someone giving it a go.
I just never see myself buying it. The generic design and high price are both deal killers. You could buy two Aiwa AI7012 boomboxes for that price. IMO the Aiwa looks and sounds the part. It’s “retro done right”. Overall the Aiwa feels like a solid entry, not a nostalgic misstep.

104W rms and only 6,81Kg. The power to weight ratio is really getting better these days! The design is not my thing. Although I do like the green accent that reminds indeed to the Rams Braun alarm clocks. Too bad it doesn't have a radio. I'll stick to the vintage stuff :)

I forgot to add that I would never actually buy this we-are-rewind boombox myself. And that's ok because this product is not aimed at retro loons like myself who would rather go on e-bay and buy the real deal, a fix-er-upper and mess around for a month or two, just getting it to work again.

I salute we-are-rewind for making it though. :notworthy Yah even if it is a big weird looking bland ugly etc

Yikes that is expensive! I was expecting like half the price. Give it a few months and hopefully it drops in price a lot.
