It's fun finding these articles on the big collectors, here's one from Vietnam, article is in Japanese. https://vietnam-vnanet-vn.translate...uto&_x_tr_tl=ja&_x_tr_hl=en-US&_x_tr_pto=wapp https://vietnam.vnanet.vn/japanese/tin-tuc/1500台のレトロなラジカセコレクター-315634.html
From Japan, 400 boomboxes, thousands of tapes. https://mainichi.jp/english/articles/20201002/p2a/00m/0et/037000c
This guy has hundreds, unfortunately the link is dead. I think he joined years ago but has been largely silent.
He had so many he did open a museum! https://muuseo.com/square/articles/505 https://muuseo-com.translate.goog/s..._x_tr_hl=en-US&_x_tr_pto=wapp&_x_tr_hist=true
I love things like this, as if I ever get moaned at for what I have, I can show these and my collection looks pathetic!
My good forum mate, Sergei, I think now 500+ boomboxes (I guess maybe close to 600 already) + different video format players, walkmans, etc. From St. Petersburg, Russia. His virtual museum: https://rutube.ru/channel/41949237/videos/ https://www.youtube.com/@boomboxmuseum/videos In Russian.
Here's a screenshot of some of his gems! I have a bunch but I never went fully after the big ones, I always liked the minis just as much.
Remember this guy? He was a member on here years ago, what ever happened to all those early members and their huge collections? Radio Hier, his link isn't working but these guys were a huge inspiration. www.RadioHier.com/home (it's still on archive.org for the diggers)
I'm amazed at how they crammed all kinds of electronics in some of the smaller units and how heavy they get not to mention some of them were very expensive back then.
I've posted this link before, the world's biggest AKAI Collection with a ton of boomboxes. It takes awhile to load, there's hundreds of photos on one long page. He has a nice pictoral of cleaning this one from all the dust bunnies and getting it looking nearly new. https://myalbum.com/album/sIldjdTt8o6K/
Is this guy a member? Only five Conions? This guy has some great stuff but the room is unexciting, somebody with a little design experience needs to come in and make it more inviting.
BlasterBryan used to be on here years ago, old videos but he had some rare stuff. He says over 300 boomers, I believe him!
Didn't he do this a "boombox a day" for months on a big social media site many years ago? Showing everyday a video with a different boombox? I think I recognize his voice, but I'm not entirely sure.
I don't remember anything outside this forum, Cassette2go and Reli have posted dozens or hundreds of short videos on YT. The really sad part is the forum host shifts and the loss of free picture hosting services which scrubbed a ton of info on the internet. It's also difficult to find really old YT Videos without spending a ton of time. JohnEdwards was big on a new Walkman everyday when he was active, always something cool that fit in his big puzzle of features and obscurity.
I still remember a lot of great members and huge collectors. I won't name names, because I'm sure I'll forget a few if I start. At some point, I started getting a bit annoyed by the friction that arose because deals apparently weren't going well between some members. I hardly participated in it myself, because I had enough local sources to score boomboxes at that time. When the forum was also threatened with closure, I took a step back to focus on other topics. But I'm sure many members from that time are still more or less active. I also regularly read along on the other side
As Michael said there was discussion about this particular model at one time and I bought it and was like why did I buy it back then when I didn't? Really? I don't know. but now that I'm in the predicament that I'm in I really need something like this because I really can't carry the big things anymore because I can't walk properly. So when I sell off a bunch of the other ones the big ones that is I'll unwrap this. Sony cfs-7
And then there was the JVC RCM50s. There were three . I already sold one about a month ago or so and I have a good one and I have a questionable one. I made a video about them and here. The one in the back works but has cosmetic issues and a cassette player works but doesn't work very well and it's not so much I can do about it and the one in the front works great like it should.
Since I'm in the big collector's thread, show you a picture of the bedroom as it is today 31 August 2025
