They are Hedlund Horns. The design came from Jan Hedlund back in the early 2000’s some time.
They are in fact a hybrid horn design. About six pairs were around in this country when I bought mine and my version were built by Hornet Audio. Jan Hedlund published the design plans on the net to allow any d.i.y enthusiasts to build
a pair. My version from Hornet used boat building techniques to bend and shape the horn.

Yes, a original Mana ref turntable stand for the 1200G ( I am just experimenting with a different base to glass).

Okay Ed100, thanks for the info.

I did have Mana back in the day, they worked but never stayed true for long. Always had to keep adjusting them. I had glass, anything glass is a pain all that constant cleaning to keep the dust off. Glass, never again.

Is your listening room a conservatory? Not having been in your room, I cannot say 100% but too much glass around to sound good and the fact that the speakers are hemmed in can’t help. But like I said not having been in your room, can’t say for sure. I have seen and heard rooms that on paper would not work, but sitting in and listening to the setup it has worked.

Me to, Mana glass worked for a bit then it seems to change its character. One minute musical the next some kind of HiFi noise - I do return to it now and again to see if I can get a consistent playback. The 1200G is heavy and the feet stick to
the glass, I put a piece of wood in place and pretend I like it more.

I’m stuck with the conservatory for room listening, the wife prefers it out of shot. I’ve not got round to sticking up any curtains yet so it’s been a few years listening to this bare glass room. It’s not bad and the horns don’t have much footprint, toe them in and there is a nice soundstage but I need your room for them to really breathe and the Heds don’t go low so it’s all mid range territory for me with a dash of upper bass.

It’s because the 4 contact points under the glass moving and not creating full contact anymore hence the base is now wobbly, if they had made it 3 points instead of 4 it would have worked better.

My room is okay, but I could have done with it being a tad bigger, the speakers are just over 2 meters from the front wall. The side walls are just over a meter away from the speakers, if the room was at least 2 meters wider; it would have given the speakers that much more room to breathe. But you have to make the best of what you have.

Is your Thorens level sitting across those 2 different racks? Level is important for turntables. I use a very accurate digital level to make sure my turntable is level.

The Thorens stays pretty level when set, the springs are in good shape but like the Linn can cause changes in the music
replay. I plonk it on top of two cheap record shelves with that gap under the 160 so that I can get to the suspension and play with the springs to my heart’s content.

For levelling I use a precision made vile I picked up years ago from a company in the U.K.

Ed100, so you like to tinker then.

The only tinkering I tend to do is move the speakers around from time to time to see if I can get even better soundstage.

I’m great at faffing about with sound. To me I prefer other peoples music replay (I can relax) except HiFi shows and I don’t think any shop dealer in the past turned me on.

Lucky for me I’ve got those 6 or so records that sing & some nice old cassette recordings (not many), the rest are a funny old noise.

wish I could live with just twirling the Hedlunds around the glass house.
