Cassette Philips EL 1903 60

    This is the Philips EL 1903 60, the first cassette ever. For many years I have been tormented by the question: why 1903? After all, the tape was released in 1963. Do you have any ideas?

    I believe, its just an internal Philips product code / identifier.

    Yeah, maybe it is. I just hoped it was some mistake, misspelling or mysterious code from its creator

    How hard are those to find? I've posted some early compact cassette info on threads in here, somewhere, there might be an answer in there.
