Bought a Discman D-321 off of a japan auction in an untested condition. I had cleaned the inside and lasers with alcohol before switching it on, first i had good hopes since the LCD also operates and it makes beeping noises when you click buttons, and all those hopes died down when it gave me a "no disc" error after trying to play a CD.

it was when I realised nothing audible was coming from it while trying to read the disc, it was after opening it up that I knew what was wrong, which was all 3 motor functions of this player not moving (im not sure if the sled motor controls the focusing bit of the laser or if its seperate).

what I do know is that it dosent have to do with the motors themselves, as it would be very unlikely for all 3 of them to burn out, a good thing is the laser is still working, and there dosent seem to be any capacitors that look sketch, aside from a 330uf 2v having these tiny rust-like splats on the top of the shell but not anywhere else.

its probably something to do with the red, blue, and white connectors controlling the motors, possibly the optical pick-up block connector aswell but I think that just powers on the laser itself, the blue one has a "limit switch" according to the service manual, I wonder what that does.

feel free to give me help on this player, or if i probably should replace that cap... maybe what caps i should replace in general
