I haven’t even done refoaming yet - although these use neoprene and are absolutely fine there. There is poor soldering and it looks as though someone has had a go at “rewiring” the actual drivers…
It is possible they’ve changed the position of where the wire actually joins the cone too ‍♂️

I just acquired a totally rebuilt Pioneer SX-1250 that had 257 parts replaced, it appears this guy was a fanatic about rebuilding his gear. Even the internal covers inside that separates some of the components were painted. Just a beautiful sounding receiver.

Also acquired a Nakamichi CR-4 that has been all rebuilt.

John: It's great to see the SX-1250 in place and being used. And a Nakamichi CR-4 is a capable cassette deck.

I love it! Our local shop had a 1250 in for a very short while, first time I've seen one in person. He had it hooked to some monster 1960's Sansui SP's (which I do own), man that sounded great, the SP's sounded like crap to me but with the right receiver the sonics were really nice.

A2.jpg A1.jpg A3.jpg got this little ASAHI recorder yesterday from a friend. it's slightly modificated (only speed-wise) and served those days as a data-recorder for a cnc-machine. my friend says, it's most probably still some software on the tape (i don't think i'll ever find out...)

That's a little different, I wonder how many machines used tape decks, I was never in an enviroment where they'd have them. I did use one for my Sinclair and some projects on the Apple II+ but that also had a disc drive. That tape looks like mid-70's any idea how old it is?
