I haven't watched that one yet, wonder where he got the idea? I watch most of his videos along with VWestlife, I'm pretty sure they're on here regularly cuz I've seen some of my ideas and equipment ; ) They do a great job of bringing back exposure for forgotten items that were so cool back then. Those little radios were very expensive, we'd see them in the camera shops were all the expensive cool stuff was. I've been close to getting one but only have a Sanyo RPM-6950 (it has a built in calculator) so far.

Just found this in Audio (Germany) from 1985, Philips made a kangaroo CD player for the car. I'd love to find one of these full units but I bet they're super rare.

So you have to remove the unit to put a different CD in to play.

Just because it's cool doesn't mean it practical.

Honestly though it had to go through a lot of bean counters, I wonder how many people flagged it but it still got made. There was so much fun stuff back then that would never get made today.

Yeah man, while driving 90mph and smoking a cig....its the 80's hardly anyone on the road back then lol

Not very practical indeed but i think the car bracket was an after thought from Philips....the CD10 is a normal portable cd player but with the special car bracket you could listen to cd's in your car! I mean wtf, this was years before car cd players with pre loaders became a standard, mechanism wasn't invented yet...but brilliant move imho

Just saw this on eBay in Australia. A bit of a novelty one but it does have a removable cassette player.

Harley Davidson Prince Edward player. (No idea what Prince Edward refers to for Harley Davidson)

It probably was a "Bean Counters" idea. "For a fraction of the cost of designing a dedicated car player why don't we make a housing for our existing player?"

P.s. Even with a nice slot loading CD player fitted in the centre of my GM Vectra cars dashboard I found CDs harder to change than cassettes due to the difficulty of getting them out of their cases one handed.

Found this neat Sony ICF-7500 from 1978, it's wild how Sony never really carried similar design through the years, everything always looked fresh. These were actually branded as "eye see" believe it or not, I guess it was "eye see radio" but I really don't know.
