    JVC CD1635A.jpg

Lovely looking machine, build as a tank, sendust head, ANRS onboard...got mine at a thrift store for a tenner....wasn't working and the recording button was broken off, managed to disassemble the button assembly and moved the pause button to the rec position.....not a recommended repair tbh....bloody hell pita to reassemble......

Smoking a cig, a big hammer and a floating mic. This is probably easily explainable but only understood by the Japanese, maybe a famous noise artist?

So this has gone sauer pretty quickly....received this from French seller Sylvain Martin from Aubagne - France. He send me utter crap!
Mic has a big crack along side the battery compartment, this was not shown in his ad. Old AA must have been in there for years, alkalyde is leaking through.
    Useless!
Also seller Sylvain did not include the hard to get angled pieces, they were missing from the package......
Also decided that it was a good idea to use the old 70's box as the shipping box....just taped all over the original box and pt the sending label on it...why use a bigger box.

So this asshole Sylvain must be avoided, he goes by name Valdaph on Green Musicians who are going to give me a full refund including tracked DPD return shipping to that asshole.
He is also active on LeBoinCoin as Sylvain.

It's always a shame when a purchase disappoints. It's practically part of the game, unfortunately. It's also rather amateurish to ruin the original box :banghead:Hopefully, you have some options for compensation.

hmmmm have to say that in general all my dealings in 20 years on the net have been great, as a seller and as a buyer. This is the first time some one send me utter crap and conceiled the faults and defects....this is plain lying to me.
But Green Musicians will give me a full refund incl. return shipping, they send me a return shipping label.
Rather would have had a working mic with all accessoires as advertised.
    So the hunt goes on!

That's a kick in the *****. I was excited to see the set up. While most shippers are now using tons of bubble wrap, I still occasionally get the boxed-box with no padding and usually some small plastic friends rattling around.

Yeah me too, but mic is on it's way back to that ***hole and green Musicians will give f ull refund...so beside the headache and disappointment and time lost the hunt continues. Did tape up that box pretty well for him...like almost a whole roll :shit:

Yummy, what a beauty from Sony, not sure of the year but it was silly money. the TC-5550-2

Edit, my eyes must have been dry, its say 1974 on the last page. It looks much larger on the last photos in the field but still a killer R2R.

I had asked about this Philips before, here's some information on it. It looks like it had a little brother as well.
    The Philips D-6920 and D-6910

    Damn that Sony is TASTY!!

'Bout that Philips....looks are deceiving tbh...looks a million bucks but is total plastic, mechanics all suffer from Philips gear rot....customer once brought one in, i could hear the gear parts already rattle inside and when opening it up two of the yellow gears came crumbling down.....they are quit cheap over here in NL close to the source but i stay away from them....whole thing needs to come apart to replace the gears.

ps needs to be said that i'm not the biggest Philips fan out there although my first boombox was/is a Philips D8208 (still own it)

I swore off Philips around 2000 when my huge 32" CRT stopped working literally 3 days after the warranty expired. That thing weighed around 120+ lbs and was a pain to take in. Other than that I have maybe 2-5 Philips Boomers, yea there's some steller models but most seem to be mid-level money makers.

Close your eyes and let me take you back to 1975, Jaws, One Flew Over The Cuckcoo's Nest, Shampoo, Tommy, Dog Day Afternoon, how many of these movies were using equipment from this steller Sony Catalog?

I translated the TC-4550SD to see what the "DD" stood for, this would predate Emiel's Chart with the TC-D5 by three years or prove and contrary to the claim that Sony never had a "Direct Drive" Tape Deck. Anybody know if this was Sony's first attempt at Disc Drive?

Sony was definately a player in this market with mulitple models and a huge range of pricing, you can see some of the influence they had on Superscope and their big early models with very similar knob and button arrangements. I have to believe there was some huge fights between the two when Sony heard Superscope was releasing competing versions. Superscope had Sony's Tape Products USA Distributions until 1979 but I don't know exactly what products since a few of these went head to head, maybe an interesting thread idea?

That TC2810 is the same as the TC153SD which on its turn is the follow up from the TC152SD....love these field recorders. The story behind Densuke is also nice to look up :)
Funny thing is that i got my 152 from a journalist who had used it to do interviews on site. Still looking for the hard to get power chord with propietary Sony connector.....
