I'm repairing a Sony WM‑W800 and need to replace the volume potentiometer because the battery leaked and corroded it. I initially tried swapping in a pot from a Sony WM‑F75, which is almost identical and also 10 kΩ, but the volume was stuck at maximum and sound only came from one channel. The WM‑F75 pot is a C‑taper, while I believe the W800 needs an audio/log (A‑taper) pot.

I’ve been looking on AliExpress and saw some ALPS pots that seem similar to the originals. I noticed listings like:

    • 5pcs RK08H11100X7 / RK08H12100GZ — the GZ model is 15A, 10 kΩ, and dual‑gang. Would this be suitable?

    • 2pcs RK08H single precision A10K — this is single‑gang.
Has anyone replaced the WM‑W800 volume pot with an ALPS part from AliExpress? Any advice on which models work best would be greatly appreciated.

So I tested the RK08H A103 10K of AliExpress it fixed the volume stuck on max problem the volume now goes up and down properly. As for the sound coming out of one side the issue was a loose solder joint on the headphone jack.
