I received a sealed CD from eBay in the mail, and it looked completely perfect. One of our family cars has a CD player. I played the disc in the car, and nasty stains appeared. The album was on a CD-R, but didn't appear to have any signs of disc rot. Is it possible to remove the stains? Nevermind, I saw a scratch on the label side. The car scratched the stupid disc. I now have to buy another one before they sell out because this CD release is out of print. I'm broke. I have learned one lesson. Never play your CD on a slot loading CD player. I have successfully secured another copy. Thank God I had spare cash lying around.

I wonder if the scratch exposed the metallic layer which instantly corroded?

It hasn't corroded yet, but the scratch did show though on the label side. Which is why I was concerned. It doesn't matter now because I secured another copy from the same seller, which means I can abuse my first copy to heck. Lol

If your wondering, the CD was from a childhood TV show I'm still stuck on because I'm Autistic. Thomas & Friends, and the CD was called Thomas Songs And Roundhouse Rhythms. It's been out of print for years. I only managed to acquire two copies because a eBay seller is selling a ton of them in mint condition for a reasonable price.

CDs aren't made with quality anymore. I seen better quality control with vinyl records. All of the CDs I got for Christmas either have outgassing problems or disc rot. There are cracks on the jewel cases, and one case is absolutely totaled. The only CD that was in perfect condition was the Thomas & Friends CD from 2001 that I already mentioned, and it's out of print. I had enough of buying stuff that isn't built to last. It's official, I'll be making the switch to Vinyl in the coming months. What has happened to CDs?
