Hi guys. I'm currently trying to replace a cut cord on a Yamaha YST-SW030.

Is it possible to remove the clamp without completely destroying it? Is it designed to be reused? Also on the inside it is glued down which is also difficult to remove due to lack of access. Anyone attempted this type of repair before?

Remove glue and use a small nose pliers to squees it on top/bottom of holder and push from inside machine to outside machine.....you need to use a lot of force because this is a strain holder and the ac cable is squeezed inbetween and the holder is held in place by outward force of the plastic outter mantle of the ac cable.
You can see that the top of the strain holder can move up and down, that the sqeezing part of the holder, after you remove the glue you will see it from the inside and where to squeez...when done in the correct way the holder should be useable again, you don't have to destroy it, it's designed to come out because cords sometimes needs changing...like in this case :)

Ahh thanks! I did not know the name of the clamp but now I know its a "strain holder" so it make it much eaiser. I can see what you mean in that it will come out if you squeeze it with pliers. Now to tackle the glue. From what I've read the eaiser methods will be IPA or a heat gun to remove it and if both fail I'll have to try chip away at it

I replaced the cord. First softened glue with IPA and used razor blade to remove glue - if lifts up pretty easily when started. Then use pliers to bush strain holder form inside of unit to outside. Use same gauge replacement cord for the power consumption of your unit and to ensure new cord will fit!
