Hello! I bought this Sony WM D6 and did a complete rubber replacement. I oiled the capstan, dabbed a small dot of white grease on top of the flywheel where it rubs against the bracket and even greased the plastic gears. Despite this there's this irritating grinding noise that causes playback to stop and go and then stop again. Sometimes it will stop completely after a few minutes and I have to shut it off and on again to get it to move, only for the same pattern to repeat. I'm sure the cause is the motor, but I am unsure what the problem is. I've tried adjusting its alignment to get it as perpendicular to the flywheel as possible, but nothing changes. I took some iso to the mother board and cleaned as much as I could but to no avail. Could it be a dying motor if so, is there a way i can replace it?
What I can hear it does sound like the motor to bad you could not take the motor apart ! Sincerely Richard
I don't hear much, to be honest. It's a mechanism, of course, and they always make some noise. Did you lubricate the motor bearing on the drive side? That's necessary for almost every appliance I work on myself. With a little high-quality oil and a needle. To stop unwanted motor noises.
