Hi everyone, I am working on a f2068. It is a fairly budget model but I thought I would ask before abandoning the project. The unit is in decent shape, new caps, fully cleaned and lubed. When played, it has a 50hz (maybe more) surge for a couple of seconds fairly randomly but at least 5 seconds apart, in either direction. I can also replicate it by tilting the Walkman. There is a small amount of motor noise coming through the headphones that I can hear in FF/rev that could be helpful, as it also changes pitch in a similar way, even with no tape in and no engagement of the pitch rollers. I did open up and lube the motor but I am thinking it is bad motor but could be the controller IC? Any thoughts before I throw in the towel? As always, thanks in advance.

The controller would not be affected by changing the position of the walkman.
When these jumps in speed happen, what happens to the motor voltage ? Goes up, stays the same ?
A working controller should increase the voltage when there's more load.

Thank Valentine, sorry for the delayed response but I stopped working on this one (budget unit). I hope to get back to it and check the motor voltage at some point in the near future.

have an ex1 that also speeds up & down with movement, it was the speed adjustment trimpot, bit of Kontakt60 cured that...
