Sony WM-DD9 – continuous clicking on power-up, FF & REW LEDs on, no key response

Great news. My problem was only related to weak belts.
AliExpress ones did the trick.
I bought this DD9 brand new in 1992 with my first student job pay. I'm feeling sentimental right now

I've been playing with my DD9 since I replaced the belts and noticed another problem : I heard a constant and regular mechanical click (like 5 times per seconds) when rewinding tapes or playing B-Side with Auto-Reverse. It affects audio-rendering.

 

Probably you have to replace this;

There are two in the Walkman. Each motor/capstan flywheel has one.
