Feel free to post your executive models, I consider these the flat models with a speaker, they seem to be a horizontal layout compared to a Walkman that likes to stand vertically. I love this Sanyo, it's a very heavy duty build. Sorry, it's not in front of me so I don't remember the model number.
Olympus makes the cut with a microcassette version, very early too, I think it's 1978? This one also has a kickstand on the back for a relaxed upright version.
Panasonic RG-J33 I think this was originally something like a translation deck that was popular in Japan and hastily reworked for the new portable stereo craze. According to deep-dive research from old member John Edwards, this was Panasonic's first entry into the market.
Great thread My office workhorse. Solidly built, easy to use, super reliable. Very good microphone and ALC. Excellent playback performance, even with music. Compatible with the 6V center-negative power supply. Long battery life with 4 AA batteries. Comes with a nice travel case for safe transport in the executive briefcase. Microphone input, EAR output. If only it were stereo...
I'm loving the Getter Poseidon in this picture! I have quite a few Chogokin Figures in my collection. Sadly I don't have any executive models like the posted ones, but some lovely examples here so far!
I've bought several mono "dictation" models just for the amazing build quality. For some professions (legal, news and engineering), these had to be top-notched equipment that couldn't quit working in the middle of a sentence. The Sony Stereo Versions have always gone for big money but even the mono's have never been a bargain. lupogtiboy, I used to hit a lot of thrift stores back in the 2000's doing outside sales and I'd find tons of collectables, in the early days of ebay most people thought I was crazy but I ended up with a few of these gems. This one lives out in the shop so he doesn't get in many photos.
Boom! I think these two Sonys might have been peak executive. It looks like this one and the KV-4100 used the same transport. I can't tell if yours is soft-touch? Sadly this model ended up in one of those full-page magazine ads on close out (in the USA) but it was still something like $200 USD marked down from around $400. The curled panel has something to do with the eject, I didn't notice it until I took this photo.
