This is the kind of pic I used in my Sunday Quiz in the old site ;)

Maybe it's professional hazard, but it looks like a Sanyo MW 200 to me (remember I'm also known as Sanyovar...) :D

I agree with you.. its likely a MW-1 or as you said, the MW-200. Which ever was the cheapest between the two is probably the one my buddy bought. I'll have to research them and see which was more budget friendly back in the day.

A clearer photo of the Sanyo MW-200L (which has Longwave) and a UK price from 1985 for you

I think I solved it.. the 200 was all one color on the side but the 210 was two tone like the one in the photo. I have not been able to find a panoramic view of the MW-1 so I cant rule it out completely. Right now I am feeling pretty confident that its a MW-210. Thanks for all the help, I could not have gotten this far without you guys.

Glad to have been helpful (together with Longman of course), despite the fact that I didn't investigate the problem in depth.

For the records, the box in your pic may be a Sanyo M-W1 after all. See the photos available in this auction:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-SANYO-M-W1-STEREO-RADIO-DOUBLE-CASSETTE-RECORDER-BOOMBOX-GHETTOBLASTER/252717228598?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid=222007&algo=SIC.MBE&ao=1&asc=40130&meid=592ca491fbf4432da32063e3cc6b21d9&pid=100011&rk=3&rkt=8&sd=221657010728

But I wouldn't spend much energy in finding out which is which, the M-W1 or the M-W210. Both have the same family air, let alone that sometimes Sanyo marketed the same box with different model numbers, for various reasons, either with minimal or no differences.

Oh i remember those days of Sanyovars Sunday quiz, they were great. They say you do not realise what you have until it is gone.... :(

Well done on solving the riddle
