I have a Sony WM-F57. Originally, only the radio was working but the cassette drive wouldn’t work. When I opened it up, I ended up changing the belt, and even put in a new drive motor. Lubricated the gears as well. But now, when I press play, it seems like the auto-reverse mechanism keeps kicking in. The main 2 spindles try to turn weakly, but they can’t, so the tape thinks it needs to auto reverse cause it thinks the cassette reel is finished. The pinch rollers and capstans spin fine. FF and rewind work fine. I am not sure what the issue is. Can anyone help please?
WM-F57 shares similar mechanical as WM-F77 (Cobra Kai) I experienced the same infinite auto reverse problem, you need the replace the idle tire and you can get one from Fix your Audio.
