This one looks really neat, the Pioneer RMX9, Remix MD Mini Component System from 1997. Square body, square buttons, what's not to like, anybody seen one of these before?

I have seen Pioneer mini-disc mixers back in the day. Seemed like the best idea ever for space, organisation and expanding your sources of music considering it is recordable!

I would love to get a mini system with an MD player, but they do seem to be pretty rare, even here in Australia where mini-disc was pretty popular.

MD was super popular in Japan, it seems like every used mini-system for sale has it. Over here I've found players everywhere but it's years between finds, I used to find the NOS discs but I haven't seen any more in years. Over here, if I had to guess, Denon sold a ton of the DMD-M10. This mini-system didn't have a proprietary ribbon cord so you could use the MD Player on it's own. It has a very small footprint, not like a Sony I had that was 95% air on the inside.

I wonder how rare the Pioneer PMD-RS-S is? I'm getting $619 USD with inflation today's price, definately out of range for most people back then while CD players were getting really inexpensive.

JVC Mezzo from 1989, thanks tas66dc! This is nice looking, I love the square-ness of all of it and the cassette deck doesn't look cheap. 110,000 yen, not too bad maybe even a little less than some of the others.

A page from the aiwa 1994 Catalog. They had a pretty big line-up of mini-stereos and made a ton of money in the 90's. Check out the LCX-10G, is that a subwoofer?

JVC Victor 1994 Micro Stereo Catalog thanks tas66dc!
Some neat looking stuff and some that makes me think of Disco Robo for some reason. I've picked up a couple of the UX Systems, they can still be bought for a few dollars but they are pretty solid 90's micro systems.

and then we get to this mini-monster with an early JVC MD player, I would assume this is the TOTL for these but without pricing it's hard to know. It looks like it has some cool features like FM tranmitting and some bass-thumping speakers.

More of a midi but still substantial looking, Saba from 1981. It almost looks like Sanyo/Fisher?

In France, I saw the same thing with Continental Edison... maybe NEC or JVC under license.

Another neat looking midi from Sanyo 1983! This looks like it might have been pretty expensive and I'm a sucker for first gen vertical CD players (although I own zero and never seen one up close). I really like this one and kind of wonder if AIWA might have copied this design, I think this is a few years earlier than the similar AIWA all-in-ones.

1978, it looks like a National Panasonic, back when there was a lot of space between your legs for a killer car stereo.

From 1994, a funky fresh system from Goldstar. Outside of some cars and fridges, we didn't see many Korean Products until the 2000's.
