My name is Chip and I tinker on just about everything. Computers, software, cars, musical instuments, ham radios, wood working and RVs. My latest adventure is a Sony Walkman wm-d6c restoration. Since I am about to retire In July, I thought this would be a fun project to start out with.

Welcome to the forum, we've had a lot of great members over the years from Florida. My advice would be to use the right tools (JIS screwdrivers), take your time and document everything with photos or video. I always take stuff apart thinking I'll remember where every screws goes back into. At the very least I line screws and bolts up in order of removal.

That's sage advice! I've gotten in the habit of doing that over the last few years. It was instrumental during my laptop upgrade. 1080p to 4k lcd screen and changed the graphics card from an rtx t1200 to an rtx a5000.

Thanks, it's hard to guage the skill level of new members but if you can work on a laptop with a million tiny screws your on the right track. Good luck with the D6, there's a lot of threads on that unit around here.
