It came to my possession by chance never before in my radar. Overall a mint unit with all the sliders intact and no missing buttons. Perform deep cleaning for now still more needs to be done.

During the golden age of boombox, Hitachi shifted their ssembly plant to South East Asia. Irony this model was manufactured in Singapore, my neighbouring country.
Many of the Panasonics from the same era (black Cobras / Eggs) were also made in Singapore. Showing how popular the area was for electronics manufacturring, twenty years ago at work we bought some expensive Keysight Oscilloscopes. For your information, this is my 37th years working in semiconductor firm in Malaysia where I started my career in Penang.. also known as the silicone island of Penang. First company National Semiconductor an US based company and now with Infineon a German company.. Back in the 80's, I remembered our locals used to travel to neighbour country Singapore to buy walkman coz it is small enough to evade tax during custom clearance but no chance for boombox. Usually we get ladies to help.. walkman safely guarded by lingeries during random luggage open check.
Wow, that's got some dirt in there. Peak Hitachi 3D, that one. Loud, great boombox sound, good looks, flashing lights, and all the features you want on a boombox (rather than a transportable home stereo), such as being relatively compact.
I remember someone on here years ago, maybe Ned209, using two of these as left & right speakers & was happy with the results
No, a long time ago around 2010, Ned used to post alot in the boombox section but I don't know if it was the same one.
