I've got 2 players testing with 1200mh and they work in my other D-NE730 fine. But the 800 ac and external AA works fine but the gumstick Zilch. I bought these cheaply off ebay aware of the not tested description or 'powers with external power'. It seems weird the same problem appears across 2 players in a row and yet each battery has full charge as confirmed by the 730 as it only uses one. The players are both clean 1 had very minor greening on the gumstick terminals there's a teeny bit left on it but I myself reckon that would n't have caused this problem I even opened it up and there was no leakage and everything was all tidy and nothing broken. Has anybody experienced this problem with their players.
Is the battery actually making contact correctly? On some replacement batteries the + pip isn’t as long as the originals which means it doesn’t touch the metal contact. Some YouTuber (LGR ?) had that problem recently with a unit he was reviewing going as far as buying a second unit, before realising he could make both units work by carving away a small amount of plastic in the battery compartment.
using new ones as i didn't have any so i bought some off Amazon - HQRP 1200mAh 1.44 Wh 1.2W. The first one the charging display is engaged but then disappears and on the remote and does nothing but plug pack and external AAs (powered) worked fine. The second one at least indicated on both items with the lamp blinking on the remote and stayed on until completion. As per the manual the 800 says" charging takes place until the charging display and LED light disappears" and i've tested that with a suitable plug-pack (but not the supplied a Sony UK plug charger) and the matching charging stand that both came with the first one. At least the 730 indicates charging by the LED dot on the player (which does not have a LCD display) or waking up the remote to indicate charging or to check a batteries status on the remote confirmed by FULL. i noticed on the 2nd the lid terminals are gold but on the front end there's grey (maybe wear but still gold) on the terminals but opening that up will be for the weekend to check. but visually inspecting the front terminals (impossible with the rear terminals) confirmed that contact was been made with either end of the battery.
