The TEAC A-2300SX four-track tape deck further developed one of the world's most successful reel-to-reel tape recorders, the A-2300S. Both channels now have independent monitor and record selector switches, designed as convenient toggle switches. Three motors, including one highly stable hysteresis synchronous capstan motor and two eddy current induction reel motors ensure constant, precise movement of the tape at both speeds.
Individual dual-position bias and equalization selectors can maintain optimum compatibility with any of the newest types of magnetic tape coatings. Two large-area VO meters make it much easier to achieve recordings with the best possible dynamics.

The A-2300SX comprises separate microphone and line input level controls for mic/line mixing, independent output level controls, left and right channel Record Mode selectors for mono recording, and added safety and Record and Pause Mode indicator lights.
"Quik-Lok" reel holders significantly simplify the installation of the tape reels. First, turn the "Quik-Lok" reel holder's outer section fully counterclockwise. This will align the center section's three tabs with the inner section's. Then, place the reels on the reel tables by aligning the tabs with the cut-outs in the center hole and gently pushing the reel against the table. Finally, the reels are tightened clockwise by turning the "Quick-Lok" reel holder's outer section.
    The technical specification of the machine is just amazing: frequency response is 30 – 28000 Hz (± 3dB: 40 – 24000 Hz) at 19 cm/sec and 30 – 20000 Hz (± 3dB: 40 – 16000 Hz) at 9,5 cm/sec.
The A-2300SX was also available as the A-2300 SD model with a built-in DOLBY system.
Every TEAC open reel tape recorder is unique, and its features and capabilities were created to meet the consumer's needs. Regardless of the apparent differences between the TEAC tape decks, each one is a specific illustration and logical extension of the TEAC religion: make it work well for a long period. My 49-year-old A-2300SX proves this philosophy.
