Finally found an ad for the JVC RC-M90! I'm going to post it here, they advertised it a few times in 82.

Sony FH-7MKII from 1984, and if anybody is curious, there's also some info on the Sony CDX-5 CD Car Stereo, those were good times for Sony.

Bob Geldof's Boombox on the table right from 1985, is it a JVC? Very rare celebrity photo with the antenna extended! From Rolling Stone Magazine.

Summer 1986 Toys from Rolling Stone Magazine. I've looked for those cool Sharp TVs but they seem kind of rare.

Timbuk 3 from Rolling Stone Magazine 1986. I saw them at our little club back then and they were just using a reel to reel for the background music, no JVC in sight.

A few issues down the road and they have what looks to be a Sanyo on their ad?

I love seeing "stars" audio equipment, if you read enough of these it seems like Frank Sinatra was the only audiophile musician back then. From 1989 Rolling Stone Magazine.
It reads like the killer Big Ben with Martika isn't hers but I love the blurb about all the big ones down on Hollywood Boulevard. I posted some screen shots awhile back from a movie with boomers in the background store windows.

Another Stereo of the Stars, if you like these there's more in the Walkman Section, this one is from 1997. Again, most musicians didn't have high-end systems, I've got my own theories on it. The ones that do tend to listen to older blues vinyl. You have to love Boz Scaggs, "Don't sell those dusty, clunky, massive old McIntosh tube amps in the attic." I started collecting old dusty audio a few years after this when everyone thought they were beyound their time.

Peter Wolf wins with the big-ol-boombox!

Rolling Stone 1980, there's some cool stuff on here but 90% of it is what we consider "mid-fi" today. What is the tape deck Herb Alpert has? It looks like a big Pioneer cut in 1/2.

New Nation March 1971, it looks like these are all from Standard Radio, bought by Superscope just a few years later. #2 looks like the Time Cat, it has an analog clock! You can find an ad for it in the Ultimate Marantz/Superscope Thread.

The Business Times 16 March 1989 (Singapore) Some news about AIWA, the Singapore division seemed to be doing much better than the Japanese.
