Consumer Reports (USA) 1989 Buying Guide, unfortunately none of them are really interesting but the reviews are fun to read.
Consumer Reports 1983, they were still pumping out great looking boomboxes. Surpising entries include the beautiful Wards 3960 and JC Penney 1760 (I can't find this one, I think this is catalog number and not model number).
Consumer Reports 1975 Buying Guide, forget tone quality back then, most were poor to fair but so was every other portable. The main thrill was recording everything, not only the radio (there wasn't much besides classical music on FM), but even people talking and TV shows. I have the top two cassette-radios and love them, the build quality is top notch and both still work decades later.

I could be wrong, it looks like a JVC? I don't think this one is a Concorde, the cassette guys were called Concord and there's no boomboxes listed on Wikiboombox. It kind of looks like a Panasonic, maybe somebody knows?

Dude looks like a lady! I saw Diamond Dave with KISS right before the big C shut everything down, his voice was shot but I didn't care. His laid back set was refreshing compared with KISS's Huge Stage Show.
Just going through some trade books and saw this ad from 1964 for Yokowo Antennas, I wonder if they're still around?

It looks like they contract build for other great Japanese Brands including Luxman and several others like BMB (I think this is an offshoot of the old Marantz). Currently they are working on a Aimor Branded Tube Amp pushing 50 watts a channel.

The purist might complain but I love the hybrid tape deck/radios. As a young kid, I used a cheap tape deck to record songs, sometimes by lying next to a radio. I would have died if I had something with a radio built in that I could also record with. I never saw these when I was young but the traditional piano key recorders were everywhere.
Panasonic's impressive entry into CD boomboxes, I don't know if this is their first but it looks great, now I need to find one. Panasonic RX-CD70 from 1986
