Okay, so after many test runs, I'm finally taking a leap and trying to repair my old WM-DD30 with the gear using this guide: http://www.walkman-archive.com/articles/sony-dd-repair-guide_01.html

Regarding the oil for a single project, should I bust out a good chunk of cash on something like moebius 9010, or are there cheaper alternatives? I tried buying something simple like 3 in 1 white lithium grease, but I'm not sure if it'll be good enough in the long term. Any helpful tips or affordable alternatives?

Also I just realized I purchased a gear from a uk seller that's stainless steel rather than plastic. Is this wise?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially with the gear type. Should I return this gear or am I okay for using a stainless steel fear as a replacement instead of a plastic one?

For plastic parts I use Electrolube SPG (Special Plastic Grease). Not cheap but found it useful for a few other jobs around the house so not too extravagant.
