I've learned today that my latest resto success is called "Black Beauty"... Wow, now I have The Elephant, El Diablo, and this National RS-5250!!!!! Any other boomers with fancy names? JVC M-90 is The King, I figured that much. Aiwa 880 with "air-suspension" of a sealed box seems to be unique, did she not get any fancy names? DiscoLite is already fancy, and Wheelers I am still trying to figure out
I've been reading Wikipedia Japan on the history of the electronics manufacturing. The companies seemed to love having a name or slogan so much that they might have had several over the decades. The boombox and personal cassette players usually also had a name, mostly in English, in hindsight it was brilliant since were still using the names 30 years later.
thank you @Mister X for the link: https://iihi-tabidati.blog.so-net.ne.jp/2014-04-25 now we have an update: RC-525 - "Zoom Shooter" CFS-C7 - "Chord(or Code?) Machine" RX-F85 - "New Kangaroo" RX-F333 - "Love Call"
RX-5350 "Big Station" RS-4250 "Stereo MAC" Sharp GF-series "The Searcher" Yorx FP-1010 "Newave" Victor RC-X750 "CDioss" Philips D8444 "Power Player" (even though it has crap for power) Sony RDH-GTK37iP "G-Tank" Sanyo T4100 "Stranger"
@Reli I hoped to pull you out of the woods!!! Power Player does sound funny, but it looks Good! Should check G-Tank for my "pimp" collection Not a fan of Sonys, dunno why... Maybe cause 3head ES Sony deck I spent my monthly salary in the 90-ies did not sound much better than my then workhorse 2-head Yamaha? Lesson got learned: since then I stick with the Co which do not make fridges/bikes/appliances. Wadia, Naim Audio, Nakamichi, Pono in balanced mode, Linn,... and my truly awesome D6 (not C!). While streaming Tidal it makes me wonder where my priorities are! In the end LPs of the tunes I find off Tidal sound the best!!!
