I have a TPS-L2 and WM-3 with wicked flutter. Can you advise me on adjustments I can make to correct it? Thank you for your input. Scott
It can happen for several reasons, there's no easy answer.... Tape or belt goo, even small pieces Old hard belt or slightly too large Rusted or non-lubricated rotating shafts Hard rollers Crack gears And much more, the units be opened and start with a magnifying glass, I'll also take a q-tip with IPA and see if swabs show any black goop which might be areas of concern. Good luck!
Thank you for your quick reply. I'll try these. I'm not very schooled in fixing these older units. I wish I had a solid repair guy. I'll look up some tutorials on YouTube.
When was the last time the belt was replaced ? Recently seen a WM-3 which has sat in storage for a couple of months (was fully serviced) began to have high W&F after. Realised the problem was belt lost elasticity and took the shape of the pulleys. Another member seen the same issue on a TPS-L2 (also serviced). Second I would check the motor, if it rotates freely by hand after belt is removed. If you have replaced the pinch roller, check for eccentricity. Check my last posts here: https://stereo2go.com/forums/threads/wow-and-flutter-my-know-how.19/ Clutch gears can crack on these, but you'll lose the takeup torque and it will click in FF. Rubber tires also should be replaced on these, but these won't usually create high W&F, just low takeup/winding torque.
