don't get me wrong, folks - yes, the tps-l2 is a nice unit - but i'm tired of those blooming displays with the "awesome mix"-tapes - sorry

If it wasn't for that tape (from a film I haven't seen) I might be able to afford a TPS-L2.

hawker, it looks like you have other interests outside of the players, feel free to post some of your other hobbies. I love your photos, I try to throw in an extra item in mine but my photography skills (or cameras) are limited.

Even if it is a classic and the first true Walkman and even if it was featured in two movies, that price is still pretty "oof"-y. Especially if you'd add shipping costs on top of that.

Nice model posing @hawker ! I generally also like how you presented your TPS-L2 in your opening post. Did you use white thin cardboard/paper and gently curled it up against the wall and lit it? Curious how you did that because I've been considering to do such photo sessions with mine. Well lit and a nice white background.
I see you also got some (classic) Star Wars and more Marvel figures in the background.

PS: I get the feeling the offers which don't put "vintage" into their title or reference any movie the device was featured in are usually the fairest...

Thanks for the kind offer Autoreverser. However, afford wasn't really the right word for me to use. Justify buying is what I meant. To me a large part of the fun of collecting is the thrill of finding items for a fraction of their original cost out in the wild. Before Guardians of the galaxy people were doing that with TPS-L2s. I'm more likely to spend £400 on the very latest Walkman, than £40 on one that is almost forty years old.

Talking of finding things in the wild something I am increasing seeing are Digital Cameras and Camcorders. I bought an absolutely immaculate Sony SD Card Camcorder in a Charity shop for just £10 last weekend. All I need now is for them to use one as a prop in a popular film.

Thanks for commenting on the photo Jacky Chen, I saw it when he first posted, I'm smiling now (again), I'm putting my vote down for one of the best photos and that would be a great thread, we've got some great photographers on the forum!
