Welcome, usually it takes a couple weeks, then you just want one more and before you know it you have a closet full.

Yea it gets hard to claim you just got one out to clean when that happens more regularly.

    Welcome.

I guess the three Amstrads are the ones in your profile picture. We love seeing photos of other peoples collections.

It seems very appropriate the someone in Essex should be collcting Amstrads.
For those who don't know, for years Amstrad's headquarters were in Brentwood, Essex.

Your comment about hiding things made me think of the signature one of the guys on the Vintage Radio and TV forum has:

"If we have always had it, how come I have never seen it before and the car boot (trunk for the USA members) is open?

Yep all three in the photo are mine and were very cheap, £5, £10 and £25, I know they are not great quality and a lot of people would rather use them as door stops!! but its a nostalgia thing for me I had one when I was 15, Id saved up my pocket money and eventually got one ( quite a few years ago now :) ) , all 3 have faults on them hopefully easy fixes.

    love the quote

"If we have always had it, how come I have never seen it before and the car boot (trunk for the USA members) is open?

nearly got caught myself :noway: luckily my Wife doesn't go in the loft :nwink:

Welcome to the forum. Hiding new buys is always tricky lol. My other half encourages me to buy them which makes it a lot easier :)

Can't find any service manuals for the 8090 model or anything really, any ideas? Looks like I will have to dig out my testers, soldering iron and small screwdrivers then try and remember the electronics course I did 30 years ago!!

Somehow I doubt if Amstrad actually made it. They had strong links with Funai who didn't sell much under their own name in the 80s or 90s. I wonder if it, or a very similar unit, was sold under a different name in other countries.
    Does anyone recognise it ?
