I started with a fleamarket buy of a DD-33 this spring. I ever wanted to own one of the DD series! Unfortunately it had a cracked center gear, which I learned later. I ordered a replacement and started the repair. During deconstruction a small spring vanished in my living room never to be seen again! A collector sold me the exact spring for a small amount, but I decided to let the repair hybernate until fall. Two weeks ago I restarted the restoration and after realising that 2 black wires went off the PCB and a falsely mounted gear prevented the Walkman from operating I finally got it fixed. Yesterday I managed to fix a WM-EX502, another fleamarket purchase, which had a torn belt but refused to work after replacement. It took me some time to work out why it wouldn't play. It was a misplaced switch that gets moved by the reverse mechanism. Quiet a steep experience curve in the last 2 weeks! Still 2 Sonys to fix! Greetings
Welcome! I've used a big magnet or a vacuum with panty hose on the end to try and find small springs and screws. Good luck with your repairs.
Thanks for the welcome! I already tried the magnet method, but we have a board flooring with lots of cracks and so one. No chance. Meanwhile I managed to fix the 3rd Walkman - a DD-22 I purchased for spare parts. Unfortunately it didn't contain the needed parts and therefore I gave it a try. Here it was a dislocated lever for the power switch plus a disintegrated belt. Works like a charm now with a rubber band. Belt replacement is alreadey ordered. Two more to go: a WM-EX50 with a stuck motor and a dead D6C professional from a neighbour. Have a nice weekend!
