    Greetings from rainy Vancouver Canada!

I finally decided to sign up on this wonderful forum after reading for over a year. This is a great place filled with detailed tutorials on technical adjustments and so on. I found Stereo2go when searching for information on Sony D6 and D6C as well as Discman D303, D555, D350, D10, D15, D25 etc.,

My interest in the Sony Discman started in 1996 with my first D-141. In 2006 I was active on head-fi and the ongoing Discman discussions and searching local pawn shops. Found a D-11 for $20 that seemed to sound fantastic... then sending for various models on e-bay including D-515 (disastrous!) as well as D-465 / D-475 and other optical out models to use as a compact transport feeding Headroom DAC / AMP stack etc.,

Rediscovered Discman in 2021 (COVID lockdowns and looking for a project...) and, this time, had the money to get the models I always wanted to listen to and test out. Plus getting the proper soldering station and getting into all the cool repairs I was reading about. It has been a great deal of effort and money... but the amount of fun, especially in Summer 2021, was incredible for me. I was dreaming of Discman players almost every night and was on e-bay hours a day searching for the exact condition models

(After Discman I had to get into Walkman... but I am only interested in D6 and D6C at this point.)

I may post pictures of repairs and try to help out anyone if I can.

    That's about it!

    Hello Hyperscope,

Greetings from sunny Calgary! Vancouver is my home town. East Van. born and raised. Thanks for sharing your story.
I missed out on much of the Discman era as I went from a cassette Walkman in 1998 to MiniDisc. Held on to that format until 2005, when I got my first iPod. It was the first generation with video.

Be sure to post pics of your project babies and welcome to the forums!

Sure Magneto, I will post some pics when relevant, thanks!

Mindidisc, yes, I got into that format in 2002 with the MZ-R900 and I still have it today... and use it an hour or so a week! 21st anniversary of this little machine in this past February. Just keeps working... when cared for these Sony devices can really last. (I picked up a spare on e-bay as well.).

Welcome to the forum Hyperscope, I can totally understand the pull this old equipment has. I wouldn't be surprised if you got sucked into even more types of players.

I keep my portable CD players limited to high-end or the old square bodies, both are/were impossible to find locally although I have a handful of gems that did pop up.
