Just bought a Sony WM-7 for cheap in dead and as-is condition. Im going to need some help from you guys.
Open it slowly and see if you can find out what's going on with it. I think it's quite a complicated Walkman to start with. So don't beat yourself up if you don't succeed right away. Welcome here
Hello and welcome to the forum @Jairaj ! There are quite a few common problems with this walkman, hence why recommend checking post #8 here: https://stereo2go.com/forums/threads/list-of-walkman-portable-recorders-common-problems.7535/ First things to do are checking/repairing the table reel clutches and installing a new belt (70mm x 0.8mm) https://fixyouraudio.com/product/sq...8-for-cassette-players-and-cd-players-8lkb2l/. This belt works better than the one advertised as for WM-7 which is a 0.6mm thickness and significantly more elastic. Elasticity doesn't help here because out of round gears, which create uneven load.
Hello @Mister X @Michiel @Valentin . I've gone through all posts regarding the WM-7 and scoured the internet trying to gain as much information as possible about this walkman before I start doing anything. Also i think the belts on this unit were replaced recently, it looks fine. I have posted detailed information about my walkman and the issues im facing on the Tech Talk section. Looking forward to get this walkman working with help from you guys!
