Always wanted one of these to complete my trio of favourite Lasonics...the 920 (had to buy two to make one!), the 931 (lucky enough to get a great one from a forum member) and this one, the 975.

They’re all really hard to get in the UK and always end up having to import them and pay massive shipping and loads of godamn tax...makes them super expensive over here!

Managed to get a decent deal on a 975 but it’s missing a battery door, the 3 knobs that do mic vol, balance, and volume, as well as a little rectangular one from the top row.

Has anyone got any of these by any chance? Would love to see it complete!

Happy to trade parts, cash, kharma etc etc!

    Thanks :)

    Si

Apparently the 931 battery compartment door is the same so that’s an awesome option :)

I’m also told the knobs are the same as on the Lasonic L30K...anyone got these?

    I’m guessing not lol

Sweet box! I just posted on another thread about plastic molding, I haven't tried it but it might work in your situation. It works better if you have a piece to copy.

    http://www.instructables.com/id/Make-plastic-parts-from-scratch/

These boxes are so rare but I have to believe a parts unit would show up every few years. There used to be an really old thread, one of the members was a master of taking sheets of plastic and gluing on the battery door tabs from another box and he'd fabricate his own doors, I haven't seen that thread in years but he was awesome at it and gave a very good pictorial description.

Think what I’ll do if nothing shows up is use the knobs from a Philips D8444 which fit apparently and are a reasonable match. I’ve made battery doors before so could again I guess. If it’s the same as the 931 at least I have one to copy.

I was trying to find that door thread when I found your 2010 thread on a Sharp Restoration that turned out very nice. If you could get someone to make an imprint for a mold with one of the knobs from their box you'd almost be there. If I had time I'd start cranking knobs out since I'm missing a million.

You got me motivated Northerner, I just placed an order for 1/8" ABS black textured sheet. I've got a little box with a nice flat, but missing, cover that I'll try to fabricate a door for. The basic shape is easy, it's the spring clips that will be difficult, let me know if you have any ideas.

I normally pinch the spring clips of a scrap box, much easier than trying to make them

Thanks sickly_b, I'll try both of those products, I've already got a million ideas. Thermoworx seems like a UK Product but Sugru is at the store down the street. I looked them up on Amazon and there's all kinds of casting tools available, here's the US Link if anyone is interested, look at the other products listed below the Thermoworx. My pebbled ABS sheet showed up today, when I get some free time I'm going to try making an easy battery door.

I’ve used Sugru before, it’s cool stuff. Will check out the Thermoworx stuff :)

Had a look at thermoworx...looks interesting. What sort of finish can you get on it?
