If this topic sounds final later it’s because I have digging around and haven’t gotten any responses. I have a Panasonic RQ 210s with a problem. It is incapable of playing back cassettes. It will record just find. I did a test by recording on the Panasonic and playing it on another machine and it sure enough the Panasonic can record. When I did open it I found a wire dangling and I tried to put back where I thought it went no avail. I have probed the pcb but no playback and the video meter doesn’t respond during recording. I either get popping, static or humming. However in record mode when I put an earplug in I can hear what I’m recording it’s just that the recorder won’t playback. I have tried getting a service manual to no evail and I can’t make heads or tails of the wiring schematic. I’ll upload some pictures of the pcb and if anyone can compare my pcb’s wiring to their could someone show. Or if anyone has a way to upload a hi-res image of their pcb, has a scanning of the sam’s book or service manual, or can just provide any information please don’t hesitate to respond. Thank you!
That big black wire is touching everything, was that the one that was loose? That's a really old player, you might have the only one on the forum You might also want to post this in the Walkman Tech Section, believe it or not, some guys only hang out down there. It looks like the service manual is here but you'll have to register to download it. This site has been around for years and I think it's safe. https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/panasonic_rq_210srq210.html
with all those loose and stripped threads and a miracle that lights up and that it hasn't burned out completely ... I zoomed in on a single image and was incredulous ....
It looks like someone was trying to solder but didn't protect the wires, so many melted? wires.......
