Hey Guys, I was a member of the old forums but failed to switch over when everyone else did. I was nine when the first Walkmans came along in 79 and my father and myself quickly became obsessed. I had an awesome Aiwa model that I am still unable to identify using this gallery - from memory I would have had it pre 1984. Un known to me, my father continued to collect some models that appealed to him and Aiwa was his poison so to speak. This is how I now have an HS JX2000 up for sale on eBay - still in box and never used. The unit works but as expected, the battery is done. My father died from dementia 3 years ago now and so Im trying to get the best price I can for my family that needs the money. I still have a Sony Professional that I won't be selling. Thanks, I am going to post in the auction section FYI
Welcome back! Sorry to hear about your loss but it's great that you two shared a common passion with portables. I've inherited some units with similar stories, I wish they could tell me their whole story, I look at some of them and think how somebody was so happy when it showed up. Your AIWA looks amazing and I'm sure the new owner will love it as much as you guys did.
Thanks man, Kicking around in the forums, I see that my first unit was an HS JO2 - was so instantly familiar when I saw some images that you yourself posted. So thanks for the memory. As for the 2000, no matter what It sells for, I know I will be so sad to see it go - but as you say, I know the new owner will love it.
I love the HS-J02 and the best part is it's still a great bargain. The recording portables were very rare when I was a kid but during my research I've found a ton of 80's concerts on Archive.org that used the early AIWA HS Series.
