    Hello,

On a local dutch second hand website I found this advertising and was so lucky to buy 3 walkmans new boxed and never used. Please take a look at this listing its a really awesome find. It used to be from a guy that passed away recently. I bought the WM-W800 WM-DD and WM-31 all new in the box and never been used. There many other items as you see some are collectible!

Nice pick up! Holy cow that's a score, he had an interesting collection, almost looks like my shop but my stuff is mostly used. What were the reel to reels? How was the pricing?

Dont know about the other items. The price was reasonable. 700 for the dd, wm-w800 and w31. All boxed in mint shape.

A really good score indeed! I'm thinking those are Revox A-77?! If they are, well, just wow!

I have this one in brand new condition. It is not one of the highest collectible walkman units but this model usually works (probably doesn't have the same crappy capacitors of most AIWA models). If you don't have one this one, it can makes a good addition to your collection. If I were you I would have taken this AIWA instead of WM-31 (there is nothing special about WM-31)

I have contacted the man, and I bought the Aiwa. I expect it to be delivered tomorrow.
Does they always need a recap? Low volume or echo sound?

Any walkman can benefit from new capacitors but for some walkman units it is mandatory to change the capacitors.

Most probably your DD walkman doesn't need new capacitors.
Among 22 units working WM-W800 units I own, 3 of them need new capacitors due to different problems ( no obvious leak), So hopefully your W800 doesnt need new capacitors.
Aiwa walkmans are overall the worse walkman units when it comes to capacitor issues. But as I mentioned my walkman works with no issue.

I have restored almost 100 dd series (dd-1-2-3/dd30/dd33/dd100/DC2/DD9) and none of the caps where bad. WM-W800 has already new belts and its working perfectly. The dd 11 and 22 always need a recap also the WM-EX50 always needs a recap. You have 22 WM-W800? Is it a investment or just owning?

Thats really impressive, you can put in 44 cassettes in those units. But in the end you only can listen to one of them:nwink:

I recently restored another wm-w800 and this one was a difficult one. Broken gears, bad motor and auto shutoff issue's. The auto shutoff issue was a problem with the tiny spring near the pinch roller it was out of place because of that reason the auto shutoff mechanism did not work and causes random shut off. Its a really special walkman but they are not easy to work on haha.
