A strange thing has happened. I was going to listen to a mini disc through my Sony M-ZE900. Inserted the gumstick battery (fully charged), inserted the disc and connected the item's pressed play, started up for a few seconds and then nothing. Panic stations- has my player finally packed up. Pressed play several times- still nothing. Just tried another disc pressed play and bingo- played perfectly. Tried another player using the unplayable disc and it displayed blank disc. The disc had been playing perfectly up until now. How was this possible. So the E-900 had somehow erased my disc completely. So is the player faulty in some way or could it possibly be the disc itself ? Has anybody else experienced this happening to them?
Impossible for your E900 player to erase the disc, it’s a player only and does not have a write-head on the laser mech. what was the other player that the disc showed up “blank” on? the E900 sounds like it needs a new laser, any other discs work on it? Or door detection switch is dirty…
remininiz. Only the e-900. Tried disc in other poŕtablès- also said blank disc. Very strange. My e-900 is playing just fine. No problem with laser or door switch. I know there was music on that disc until I put it in the e-900. I have since recorded more music on that disc so that particular disc is fine. Gremlins I think.
No other deck. I do all my recording from portable discman to mini-disc via optical link. I've only ever had one fault with my e-900 and that was a couple of years ago. I was listening to a disc and all of a sudden the e-900 stopped. Did not respond to any button presses. I thought it had finally given up the ghost after so many years. Put it aside for a couple of weeks and it started working properly again. I rotate all my units very frequently. It still sounds as good as when I bought it back in 2000. Am still using gumstick battery that is 24 years old. I still get about 6 hours play. Cant complain about that.
