Hi everyone. Have just been listening to my mz-g750 player when the battery gave up the ghost. Swapped the battery using a energiser alkaline but would not play- completely dead. I had some other duracell batteries so i thought i would try one and bingo- player works fine again. Put another energiser battery in and you've guessed it, wouldn'play. Put the duracel battery back in and it works perfectly. Has anyone else experienced this? I thought all AA batteries were of the same dimensions. Look forward to hearing from anyone.

    Didn't experience this yet.
What's written on the batteries? Any differences like 1.2V vs 1.5V for example?

I always use 1.5V AA batteries on my MZ-R500 for example, never had any problems across different brands.

Hi Sly. Thanks for reply. On both makes of battery it just states 1,5 volts so there must be a very slight difference in dimensions. The duracel work ok in my other mini-disc players and i never drop the batteries into the player itself-i always hold the player flat. Thanks again for reply.

Did you check if the battery levels were fine of those that you inserted afterwards?
I once picked batteries I thought would be fine from my drawer and they turned out to be near empty, must have put them in there absentmindedly.

Hi Sly. Yes i tried several batteries, all new Energiser. Only duracel worked. Come to think of it it's my wifes mini-disc player that she bought in China that i found one day while i was looking through some drawers while in china. She could have dropped the batteries in which resulted in the bottom spring being just pushed down a little inside the player. Just a thought. You know what women are like when it comes to electronics. Thats the only thing i can think might possibly have happened. Will try and see if i can pull the spring up just a fraction.

Check if there isn't any corrosion on that spring either, otherwise it could be damaged or break when you try to stretch it. Could be worth checking if contacts are clean too.

Have checked. No corrosion. Everything looks clean. As it works on the duracel batteries i'll probably just leave it as it is. Thanks for your help.

Compare the diameter and depth of the positive terminal with any slot in fits into.

Electronic equipment often does this so one end doesn't connect at all if the battery is fitted in the wrong way. However, it does mean the positive end has to be the right dimensions.

Hi Longman. Thanks for reply. Have checked positive and negative spring. All are clean but i will do as you suggest. Maybe it is the positve contact that is causing the problem. Funny, because the duracells work perfectly in my other disc players.
