I recently ordered a Wm-Ex670 from eBay a couple of days ago. It worked fine when I got it but when I put an old cassette in it to play and tried to rewind it it got stuck and wouldn't rewind, so I tried to take it out but the cassette wouldn't go with the door, so I had to open the door a little grab the cassette and push it against the door so it would go smoothly out. Afterwards I noticed that the door seemed a little loose and was making a sound that it wasn't before I grabbed another cassette to see what had been done and it won't rewind or fast-forward as in the cassette wouldn't move but would move along fine in play mode but one second it speeds up and the next it slows. I Currently don't know what I can do as this is beyond my level of expertise but does anyone have any advice on what to do and is this an easy fix or do I need professional help. Thanks.

Hello Dusty Fats, I don't have many of the newer models but it sounds like it needs a belt and a check of the rubber rollers to see if they've gotten hard or glazed over, which causes the tape to slip when playing.

My best advice is to learn how to fix these yourself, at minimum a small screwdriver set works good, Harbor Freight has this set or there's a ton on Amazon. If you want to buy better quality Wiha has a lot of little sets, keep an eye open they tend to rotate their sales. https://www.wihatools.com/tech-tools/micro-bits

I didn't see a service manual on my typical search so I don't know how involved a belt replacement is. Some of have a few small screws on the back and once opened the belt is right in front of you, some are like surgery, serveral screws and wires that need to be moved around. If you can take some photos of the open door that might help us.

Thanks for your help guys. Sorry for not replying sooner as I was busy and couldn't get to it at the time. Today I decided to take a crack at it and I found Some interesting stuff. My belt seems to be completely fine but I've already ordered a replacement just to make sure it lasts. Anyways first thing I noticed while snooping around is that the head looks a bit crooked, I'm not sure how to fix it though or if it even needs fixing and that's just how it is. Second is the rattling I heard seems to be from the right pinch roller and it seems to have come loose a bit and I'm not sure how to fix that either. Lastly I still don't know why the cassette isn't sticking with the door but I suspect it has something to do with the pinch roller being loose. If you guys have any tips please let me know I'm desperate to get this fixed before the holidays is in full effect. I will Include pictures and a video file below. Thanks Again!
