Got a TC-78 which plays fine apart from playing in the normal direction. Pressing the right play button has the mech engage but doesn't spin the right spindle, it soon stops and then auto reverses and plays fine. Fast forward works no issue there. Trying to find useful material online without having to sign up to everything. I've noted on some TC-78 units, theres 2 wheels with a belt right next to the solenoids, but I don't think my unit has that. Certainly can't see anywhere to put one either.
Uhm, okay I'm put it back together just now and forward direction is now working. Literally changed nothing but poke things. Perhaps something wasn't aligned and so didn't mesh. Still would like information if possible for servicing as I do need to go through it and check greasing so a detailed disassembly would be much appreciated.
There is/was a thread on here for one of the tape decks and I think there's a few YouTube Videos. They look to be very complicated and tightly packed.
